Linear Equations
Solve for x instantly using Paravartya.
Core Concepts
Solving equations is all about balance. Vedic Math uses the Paravartya Sutra, which means "Transpose and Apply".
The Golden Rule
When you move a number to the other side, its sign changes.
• + becomes -
• - becomes +
• × becomes ÷
• ÷ becomes ×
Two-Step Method
For equations like 2x + 3 = 13:
1. Move the constant (+3) first: 13 - 3 = 10.
2. Move the multiplier (2): 10 ÷ 2 = 5.
Solved Examples
Example 1: x + 5 = 12
Question: Solve for x.
• Transpose +5 to the right side.
• It becomes -5.
• x = 12 - 5 = 7.
• Answer: 7.
Example 2: 3x = 15
Question: Solve for x.
• Transpose ×3 to the right side.
• It becomes ÷3.
• x = 15 ÷ 3 = 5.
• Answer: 5.
Example 3: 2x + 4 = 14
Question: Solve for x.
• Step 1: Move +4. It becomes -4. (14 - 4 = 10).
• Now we have 2x = 10.
• Step 2: Move ×2. It becomes ÷2. (10 ÷ 2 = 5).
• Answer: 5.
Example 4: 3x - 2 = 10
Question: Solve for x.
• Step 1: Move -2. It becomes +2. (10 + 2 = 12).
• Now we have 3x = 12.
• Step 2: Move ×3. It becomes ÷3. (12 ÷ 3 = 4).
• Answer: 4.
