Percentages are just fractions in disguise. The easiest way to calculate them is by using "Anchor Percentages" like 10%, 1%, and 50%.
The 10% Rule
Just move the decimal point one place to the left.
10% of 450 = 45.0
The 1% Rule
Move the decimal point two places to the left.
1% of 450 = 4.50
The 50% Rule
50% is just Half.
50% of 80 = 40.
Solved Examples
Example 1: 5% of 60
Question: Find 5% of 60.
• Step 1: Find 10% first. Move decimal 1 left: 6.
• Step 2: 5% is half of 10%. Half of 6 is 3.
• Answer: 3.
Example 2: 20% of 45
Question: Find 20% of 45.
