Tables Beyond 9 (12–19)
Multiplying "Teens" numbers instantly.
Core Concepts
Memorizing tables up to 20 can be hard, but Vedic Math makes it easy! When multiplying two numbers between 10 and 19 (the "Teens"), we use a simple Base 10 method.
The Formula
To multiply two "Teen" numbers (e.g., 12 × 13):
1. Add the first number to the unit digit of the second number. Multiply by 10.
2. Multiply the unit digits of both numbers.
3. Add the two results together.
Solved Examples
Example 1: 12 × 13
Question: Solve 12 × 13.
• Step 1: Take 12 and add the unit digit of 13 (which is 3).
• 12 + 3 = 15. (This is actually 150).
• Step 2: Multiply the unit digits (2 × 3).
• 2 × 3 = 6.
• Step 3: Add them: 150 + 6 = 156.
Example 2: 14 × 12
Question: Solve 14 × 12.
• Step 1: 14 + 2 = 16. (So, 160).
• Step 2: 4 × 2 = 8.
• Step 3: 160 + 8 = 168.
Example 3: With Carry (15 × 14)
Question: Solve 15 × 14.
• Step 1: 15 + 4 = 19. (So, 190).
• Step 2: 5 × 4 = 20.
• Step 3: 190 + 20 = 210.
Example 4: 19 × 11
Question: Solve 19 × 11.
• Step 1: 19 + 1 = 20. (So, 200).
• Step 2: 9 × 1 = 9.
• Step 3: 200 + 9 = 209.
